About us

The Investment Readiness Enterprise Assessment Diagnostic (IREAD) tool, is owned and managed in Northern Ireland by Development Trusts NI (DTNI) the regional network of ambitious and enterprising community-led organisations, working together to help neighbourhoods thrive.

Development Trusts NI's vision is: ‘To have a successful development trust in every community that wants one.’

Our Work

DTNI works to support our members and the communities they serve. All our work aims to inspire local communities to improve by focusing on how they can become more enterprising and engaged in local regeneration. DTNI’s aims are:

  • To encourage the growth of new development trusts

  • To support and strengthen established development trusts

  • To promote and represent the interests of development trusts

  • To reflect the democratic wishes and aspirations of our membership and to run our own organisation efficiently and transparently.

DTNI is funded by DSD to run the Community Asset Transfer Demonstration Programme. Community asset transfer refers to a change in management and/or ownership of land or buildings from public bodies to communities.

DTNI aims to:

  • Raise awareness of Community Asset Transfer (CAT) and of the CAT policy.

  • Encourage discussion on Asset Transfer

  • Influence current policy and practice within a Northern Ireland context

  • Highlight the benefits and risks

  • Disseminate learning and expertise from other parts of the UK – England, Scotland and Wales
